White Lake Township’s Master Plan for Land Use represents an opportunity to set the course for sustainable development and redevelopment in the Township through the establishment of goals, objectives, strategies, and plans. The Master Plan is comprehensive, providing for future land use, transportation, and community facilities and services in a coordinated fashion. It portrays a clear statement of community goals and objectives, establishes a vision of the future, and includes plans to achieve the vision. In addition, the Plan promotes a land use pattern that is consistent with the community’s goals.

The Planning Commission will continue to post information here regarding Master Plan Updates and welcomes the public to its meeting on the 3rd Thursday of each month where the Master Plan will be discussed.

Area Plans
For this Master Plan Update, the Planning Commission is focusing on three areas of the Township, and creating Area Plans. These Area Plans are concepts for future development and will help the Planning Commission identify zoning or other land use changes that might be considered over the next few years.

Four Towns: The area of Union Lake Road, Cooley Lake Road and Williams Lake Road is the White Lake Township portion of the Four Towns area. So named for the general area where the Townships of Commerce, Waterford, West Bloomfield, and White Lake meet, this area has developed over the years with a mix of commercial and service uses. This video gives an overview of the area, and illustrates how redevelopment might occur over time.
