Project Overview
Saginaw Street, from Hill Road to Maple Road, is a major connector between the Grand Blanc community and the municipalities north of it, including the cities of Flint and Burton. The intersection of Saginaw and Maple is a gateway for those traveling from these northern com-munities into the Township, and the intersection of Saginaw and Hill is a gateway into the Township from the City of Grand Blanc.

Approximately 15,000 vehicles pass daily along this portion of Saginaw, and this can be expected to grow with the major retail development occurring in the Township (Heritage Park, Trillium Circle Village, etc). As such, it is critical that this portion of the Saginaw Street corridor distinguish itself as representative of the quality of life throughout Grand Blanc Township. The objective of the Saginaw Street Corridor Study is to establish standards for development that will create a corridor distinguishable from all others within Grand Blanc Township and the entire Grand Blanc community, while improving traffic flow and safety.

Study Area
The study area includes two major thoroughfares: Saginaw Street from Hill Road to Maple Road, and Dort Highway (M-54) from Saginaw Street to Durant Heights. Within this study area are three major intersections: Saginaw at Maple, Saginaw at Hill, and Saginaw at Dort (the latter comprising two of the three intersections that make up the “Triangle”).

Community Participation
A visioning workshop was held on September 20. Comments were collected through individual surveys as well as a group exercise. The results were used to formulate the future vision for the corridor, and goals and objectives (see View
Plan below).
